About Narratives

The man behind the camera at Narratives of Light Matt Cheramie has been involved in photography for most of his life learning early from his father. Latter in life Matt decided to take his hobby to the next level by pursuing and education in photography and art at the university level. Matt has been taking photographs as a profession for several years now and had this to say about his style.

“Photography, by definition, is drawing with light, but when I look at a photograph I don’t think of it as just an illustration, but rather, a story. A photograph is truly a thousand word narrative about one single moment in time. Parts of that moment that would normally be lost become a short story of their own. All of these individual stories come together to create a photographic narrative. They can be works of fiction, non-fiction, or sometimes, just rhetoric. I consider myself not just a photographer and artist, but also an author; I create narratives out of light.”
